September/October Issue No. 5

Have you had time to sew? My church and family responsibilities has had my sewing on the back burner this past month! I have several “PhD” projects in the works that I’ve started and am trying to finish....Here are some of our class projects that are completed!

CLASS SCHEDULE FOR SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER

SEW AND SERVE THURSDAY, SEPT. 27 10AM-12 NOON AND THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25 10 AM-12 NOON

I decided that the name of this class needed to reflect the project. Since we are serving breast cancer patients with our sewing talents I renamed the “Sip and Sew” to “Sew and Serve”. Join us to make drain bags that will be donated to the Coliseum Cancer Center to be distributed to mastectomy patients. Bring any soft fabric or ribbon you have in your stash. We’ll cut, serge and sew as many bags as possible!

BEGINNER SMOCKING CLASS, THURS., OCT. 4 6:30-8:30 PM

The beginner class teaches the basics of smocking. You’ll complete a sampler with the stem, outline, basic cable and baby wave stitches after learning how to “tie off ” and block your piece. Learning how to read a smocking “template” and fabric choices will also be discussed. Fee $36 for class and kit.
