Welcome to my blog! I'm a novice blogger but have a lot of experience in different areas of sewing and teaching, as well as raising my family and being a best friend to my husband of 28 years!
I've sewn for many years, beginning as a child using scraps to make Barbie clothes while my mother sewed for me.
My maternal grandmother and aunt also influenced my love of sewing. After the birth of my daughter, I learned how to smock and utilize heirloom sewing techniques and fell in love with the art of English smocking and all the heirloom sewing techniques involved with children's garments. I use my teaching degree to help me as I instruct sewing classes and mentor young girls in order to preserve the art of sewing and smocking.
I have also sewn flower girl dresses for weddings. My son and his wife used my skills at their wedding for the flower girl and the ring"dog", Nelli.
I'm a breast cancer survivor
and like to use my sewing
as a means of therapy for
myself and others. Being active in church activities, teaching ladies' and children's classes, working with teens or cooking meals for the new babies, shut ins or sick also keep my days busy. I also substitute teach at a local Christian school.
Meet my family and my dog, Maggie and grand-dogs, Molly and Nelli. My nest is empty
but life is full!
